Maury River Float

Pete, a few friends and I paddled the Lower Maury River on Sunday. There were beautiful views and crazy rapids - I was bailing our canoe out the whole time!

High Bridge Trail State Park

Last weekend, Pete and I set off for High Bridge Trail State Park with our mountain bikes. It is a rails to trails trail in Farmville, VA. It was my first time with my eggbeater clip ins and I only fell once! We biked 16 miles and then went to Appomatox River Co. and I bought my first brand new green Pyranha whitewater kayak. Pics were on my last post. It even came with a Pyranha sponge!

Paddling Trips this Spring

Pete, friends and I have been on many paddling trips since I've last posted. We've done sections of the North River, Slate to the James, Rapidan, South Fork Shenandoah, and Rivanna including the Woolen Mills run in my new kayak. I think thats all but heres a compilation of the runs.

Pete scouting his rapids

We found a man made tunnel through a hill for the headrace for a mill - it ran through a mountain to cut out a curve to provide more water to power the mill

There was a mini-fire - created ash in weird pockets

Still smouldering
