Day 6.5: Myrtle Creek, OR
Along the way we saw a tourist attraction called the Sea Lion Caves. It was pretty fantastic to take an elevator down to a real sea lion cave, but it smelled horrible.

Day 6: Myrtle Creek, OR
Finally, we could relax and enjoy our time instead of trying to pack in miles. We started from Mount Hood and traveled down the Oregon Coast into Roseburg then Myrtle Creek. I will be doing my clinical at Central Physical Therapy in Roseburg and living at the most amazing place in Myrtle Creek. Our first stop was Cannon Beach which is known for this rock formation...

Day 5: Hood River, OR
After a quite uneventful trip the entire way up across Idaho via I-84, we found our way to Mount Hood. When we arrived in Hood River, there was no big mountain to be seen due to cloud cover 
so we talked to some locals and found out that the morning was the best time to see Mount Hood. We then made arrangements to stay at the Vagabond Inn and have some good brewery beer at Double Mountain Brewery. It was some amazing beer and people, except for the bartenders who didn't like me very much. Girls are stupid like that. So when we awoke in the morning, this is what we saw.

Total Trip Time: 702 miles, 10.5 hours
so we talked to some locals and found out that the morning was the best time to see Mount Hood. Day 4: Salt Lake City, UT
After leaving Pine Bluffs, WY, we were able to make it to Cheyenne, WY while driving through 50 mph winds and zero visibility due to blowing snow. Once we arrived, we realized I-80 from Cheyenne to Laramie was still closed so we went on a little adventure. Ironically, my dad picked up his Hawaiian shirt for my cousins Bar Mitzvah while in the middle of the blizzard. We then decided to get back on the road to see if the interstate was open right as they were opening the gates. After visiting Flaming Gorge,
we drove through Park City, UT to get to Salt Lake City. It is one of the most impressive landscapes I have ever seen. Sorry, I was driving down one of the most windy roads ever so I didn't take any pictures. This may be my new future homestead if Colorado doesn't work out! We then continued on into Salt Lake City where we went on a 30 minute tour of the Mormon Tabernacle.
Our next stop was the Great Salt Lake but by the time we made it there it was dark. Our plan was to wake up the next morning to go explore, but instead had to head straight up through Idaho into Oregon due to heavy rain/sleet/snow.
Note: Don't waste your time visiting Flaming Gorge, WY, what you see in the picture is it.

Day 3: Pine Bluffs, WY
This stop was very unexpected. Supposedly it is common to shut down Interstate 80 between Pine Bluffs/Cheyenne and Laramie, WY. The abrupt stop to our trip due to high winds and blizzard conditions landed us to an amazing motel called Gator's Travelyn Motel. 
The girl at the front desk had the same number for her IQ as she did for her teeth. 
It was an interesting experience that made us stay there from 12:30 pm March 23 to 8:30 am March 24. Our motel room included free snow service blowing through our air conditioner (that we obviously would need in March in Wyoming). 
Amazingly, this place had WiFi so I was able to check on the never changing closed conditions of the interstate. Enjoy the pictures, they only slightly capture the fun that was had by all.

Day 2: Lincoln, NE
The next stop was at my Aunt Rosemary's. We were able to visit with my Aunt Rosemary, Uncle Rich and Cousin Nick. Once again, great food and company. The trip totaled 303 miles and 4.5 hours. Nebraska has very high winds.
Day 1: Iowa City, IA
3 Hour Time Difference
Important: Until June 5, 2009, I will be on Pacific Standard Time. This is a -3 hour time difference from EST!!! I can't wait to hear from you, but I'm sure it can wait 3 hours! ;)
