Iditarod

Dad and I went to our secret spot along the greenbelt again to see the ceremonial start of the Iditarod in Anchorage. The race used to start from Anchorage and go the whole way to Nome but this was before all the people which lead to all the cars. They decided having the dogs run so close to all the cars and having to cross bridges along the way, this was no longer safe to do. They would not provide permits to close the roads for the event so Anchorage is now a ceremonial start with the actual timed start at 2:00 pm tomorrow in Willow.

People bid up to $7,500 to be an Iditarider in the sled for the 11 miles in Anchorage

Getting ready for the turn - putting their foot out gives them more control of the sled
