Eagle River Nature Center Trails

Jernine, Jakub, Pixie, Jameson and I went for a leisurely trail walk along the Iditarod trail and Albert Loop trail to Eagle River. A grizzly charged hikers two days ago, but we didn't see him anywhere. We had a cute malamute mix join our group who must have been our guardian angel dog to keep us safe. His owners were to be called by the staff at the Nature Center.

Winner Creek Trail

Jamie, Jernine, Kristin and I (plus Dodger and Jameson) checked out the Winner Creek trail which has a hand tram, and hiked 6 miles round trip. Pretty great scenery.

First visitors of the summer!

Karen and Tom Perry traveled from Slippery Rock, PA to start their adventure through Alaska with a few days in Anchorage.

They were able to see the bore tide which was ripping through that day!

Eagle River Nature Center Wilderness Safety Challenge

It was a beautiful day for the North America Outdoor Institute Wilderness Safety Challenge. Kudos to Alaska for offering this course free of charge to decrease the number of Search and Rescue missions by educating Alaskans who enjoy the outdoors.

Eagle River Yukla Yurt Backpacking Overnight

Marianne, Steve, Larissa, Scot, Bruce and I set out on a 2.5 mile hike one way into Yukla Yurt from the Eagle River Nature Center. We enjoyed a group Raclette dinner, gourmet made by Marianne. I've never backpacked like this before!
